Via de’ Calzaiuoli is in the heart of Florence city centre leading from Piazza Duomo to Piazza della Signoria, walked by thousands of tourists every day. It is a street with an extraordinary history, home to craft and commerce for centuries.
In the past it was divided into smaller sections, named after the studios situated here. Some nearby streets have kept the names, deriving from old trades, such as Via dei Cimatori (“cloth cutters’ street”) and Via degli Speziali (apothecaries’ street).
Now it is home to high street brands and some handcrafted accessories and clothing boutiques. Shopping here has its own special flavour
