EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Inside Boboli there is a "secret garden", known as the Camellia Garden. It is a space that in the Medici era was strictly reserved for some members of the grand ducal family; at the end of the eighteenth century the area was destined for the cultivation of camellias, in line with the fashion of the time. Of the Camellia genus, the japonica species is the most represented within the garden and currently includes 49 specimens of 37 varieties, some of which are very significant in terms of size and colour: among these the splendid "Candidissima", dating back to 1830. Now this suggestive corner of Boboli, normally closed, reopens to the public.

From 17 January to 13 April, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, it will be accessible with accompanied visits (for a maximum of 25 people at a time), thanks to the security staff of the Boboli Gardens.
