A graduate of the internationally renowned Newark School of Violin Making, Alberto Dolce is now based in Florence where in his workshop creates fine violins, violas and cellos. Alberto spent four years training in one of the most esteemed violin making school in the world where he had the opportunity to learn the art of violin restoration, which historically has its main trade in England. All throughout the years of his studies he has been in contact and later became an apprentice of Maestri Liutai Paolo Sorgentone and Michele Mecatti in Florence, under whose guidance he has made many handmade new instruments following the Italian tradition. He also had the opportunity to make contacts in the trade and to visit well-respected violin workshops in Europe as part of his work experience. Alberto makes traditionally crafted instruments of the string quartet inspired by the 18th century Cremonese masters (A.Stradivari, G.Guarneri del Gesù) as well as by the Tuscan school (A.Gragnani). He is member of the British Violin Making Association.
