What you will find
EVENT NAME: "Giannelli. The Sky above Florence": the giant sculptures of Emanuele Giannelli
EVENT PLACE: Piazza San Lorenzo and Piazza Duomo (in front of Palazzo Guadagni Strozzi Sacrati)
EVENT DATE: from 20 February to 15 May 2025
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
After the success of the *Mr. Arbitrium* installation in 2022, Emanuele Giannelli returns to Florence with the exhibition "Giannelli. The Sky Over Florence", promoted by the Opera Medicea Laurenziana and the Tuscany Region. Open from February 20 to May 15, 2025, the exhibition features three monumental sculptures: The Watcher (5 m), placed next to the Basilica of San Lorenzo, and two Korf17 (5 m) positioned on either side of the entrance to Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, the seat of the Tuscany Region.
The exhibition's title references Wim Wenders' film and symbolizes a gaze turned towards the sky, between spiritual quest and visionary immersion. Giannelli explores the concept of "visionariness," inviting viewers on a journey through philosophy and transcendence.
The Watcher depicts a man in motion, straining to observe the universe, while Korf17, wearing a virtual reality mask, stands solemnly, drawing the observer beyond reality.
